Welcome to my second blog!
Within this post i will be outlining some of my previous media work in hopes that you can all learn a bit more about myself.
After creating YouTube content at a young age, this led to bullying at school. To my assumption it was because i was doing something different, something people didn’t understand. Instead of spending my lunchtimes on the football pitch like everyone else Ii would spend it in the I.T lab creating radio adverts, websites and fiddling around making videos. Due to the bullying I received I decided to stop making videos and doing what I loved. Until I was visiting my dad in Las Vegas a few years ago, he was going to buy me a new GoPro for my 20th birthday so I could attach it to my motorbike and make some bike content. We were in BestBuy looking at the GoPros and luckily for me right next to them was the GoPro drone (that came with a GoPro!!!). I somehow convinced him that would be an amazing present which he bought for me, called the GoPro Karma Drone, which influenced me to create a video of his house and area in Las Vegas, posting it on Facebook which got some positive responses! I then started to create scenic drone videos of local beaches and places of interest. I began posting these onto a facebook page I had created which instantly got noticed by majority of the locals in my town. To date i have around 45k/50k views across 5 videos that i have posted. This drew a lot of attention from local businesses who wanted me to film for them, I remember once being offered to be flown out to an island near Scotland to help somebody create a short feature film, unfortunately due to me not having my PFCO commercial drone license i could not undertake any of these tasks. It would have been awesome to do it, but the drone license at the time was around £1000. However i was invited to the Devon Truck Show and created a “personal” video for myself which they in-turn shared onto their page, gaining views for me, and publicity for them all for no cost.
About a year later is when i got my first proper gimbal. The DJI Ronin S, which I use alongside my Nikon D3500 DSLR, after getting this I started to create more snappy, interesting videos while learning at the same time. Some of these did well on facebook and others not so much due to the audience I had already created for myself.
I am currently still creating lots of little videos here and there alongside my Degree here at SAE but have taken a back seat with it due to uni work coming first.
That’s it for this post and i hope you enjoyed. I will see you in the next one!
Luke
